Since you all are probably getting tired of Cedar Point updates I’m going to try something a little different for this one. A slightly new format that will definitely be used from here on out. Also I promise this update will include some new things not seen in other Cedar Point updates such as ice skating and fireworks! Plus I haven’t been to Cedar Point since getting my new zoom lens so got some new shots in this update as well. So let’s begin….
What’s more American than Cedar Point on a holiday weekend? Nothing! 😛
I don’t think anyone can deny it, Gatekeeper is one of the most photogenic coasters out there!
How about a ride on the sky ride for some new shots.
Gatekeeper overlooking the beach. We’ll be setting up camp there latter for the fireworks viewing.
Another look at the beach, slightly overcast day. However it’s perfect weather not too hot and not too cold. Couldn’t ask for a better day to be at the park!
Raptor’s incredible vertical loop. They’re having so much fun!
My favorite section of any inverted coaster and I think the people in the front row agree.
Now it was time to try and get a shot that is only lined up perfectly for just a second. I had seen other people get this shot so I wanted to try my hand at it. The only way to get this angle is from the sky ride, which I had ridden a few times to get this shot. Figured out a few new camera modes also to make it easier to obtain. Pretty happy with the result.
Looking through Raptor’s loop into Sandusky Bay past the Blue Streak. Not an easy shot to get!
The Johnsonville Brat grill is here for the weekend!
Iron Dragon is decked out for the holiday!
I’ve never seen any pictures like this before. 😛 haha
Frontier Town welcoming armed forces for the weekend!
Anyone want some corn? Yum!
Let’s check out the Barnyard for some animals!
And some sheep!
But what we’re really here for is great views of Millennium Force’s first hill!
Get ride to drop 300 feet!
Easily one of the best drops on any coaster in the world!
You also get some great views of Millennium’s overbanked turn!
Let’s see how Shoot the Rapids is doing. Even though this ride gets a lot of hate, and I’m sure the accident last year didn’t help, I still rather enjoy the ride. Bummed that Holiday World took their version out this year and I never got to ride it. Oh well hopefully they’ll be replacing it with something much better. 🙂
Look’s to be doing alright. It has a line!
It’s another photogenic ride at the park, and I love capturing people’s reactions right before they get soaked. 😛
And they’re soaked.
Oh that’s a cool shot of Dragster wonder if I can get closer to it? 😛
Let’s head back down the midway because it’s time to see a show for the first time this year. What show you ask?
Hosted in the classic Good Time Theatre.
Are we gonna see some garbage can bands before the show? No? 😦
We’re here for Snoopy Unleashed!
Before the show starts we get a teaser for the new Peanuts movie.
Coming in 2015!
And how about we start the show?
Snoopy cheers on in the background.
Or how about way above the stage in a metal ring?
I must say pretty neat how this year’s show combined parts of Cirque Du Soleil with ice skating. It’s definitely a new twist for the show, but let’s get back to some ice skating!
A little Michael Jackson skating with one oveglove. haha 😛
Who’s ready for a finale?
One last high speed spin. Don’t drop her! 😛
Overall pretty good show, like I said it was different to see them incorporate other aspects besides ice skating into the show. Definitely made it more exciting!
A shot of the water tower because why not? 😛
The people in the front row look like they’re having a great time on Mantis. And why wouldn’t they I’ve quite enjoyed it this year. 🙂
I’m sure no one has ever taken this shot before either. 😛
Airtime! I do love my Millennium Force. 🙂
Windseeker is still a fun ride and I quite enjoy it.
Time to head over to the Dragster area to see what kind of shots I can get with my new lens.
This is sure an interesting outfit. 😛
Dragster also decked out for the holiday weekend.
Is this the kind of shot you were looking for?
Or how about this one?
I absolutely LOVE these shots, so after that how about a celebratory ride on none other than…..
Fancy sign all decked out in bugs. 😛
Ready for launch!
Dragster crew was absolutely killing it today! Train’s were being dispatched very fast and the wait was a mere 25 minutes. That’s nuts for a Saturday in July, let alone a holiday weekend!
Took some photographs of Corkscrew because I don’t think I’ve given it any love yet this year, or rides for that matter. haha
My friend John kept trying to get us on it, but yeah think we’ll save this headache machine for another day.
When are we gonna drop?
Ahhh!!!!! Hairtime. 😛
Well after a quick meal it was about time to head over to the beach to get a spot for the fireworks tonight.
The ferris wheel is all lit up red, white, and blue!
But first let’s get a twilight ride on Windseeker!
The light package on this ride is pretty impressive.
Think we found our spot right next to Windseeker.
Magnum at sunset.
I wonder how “wicked” Wicked Twister would be during the fireworks? haha 😛
Lifeguards patrolling the beach telling people to stay out of the water, since it’s getting dark.
Is it time? No that’s just puny Luminosity fireworks. 😛
Now that’s more like it!
Roller coasters and fireworks! Love how it lights up the Twister!
More fireworks! Look at the smoke.
Two coaster trains in one picture and fireworks!
And time for the grand finale, don’t think I’ve seen so many fireworks shot off at once.
As always Cedar Point puts on a spectacular fireworks show, but don’t take my word for it. Check out this video via CPRundown.com of the fireworks at Cedar Point this year. Well to avoid the mess that is the parking lot after the fireworks, let’s head back into the park for a few more rides.
DJ Hurrikane still going at it after the fireworks.
I must agree, they definitely do have an inpressive fireworks show. haha 😛 Spelling anyone?
Since it’s July 4th weekend had to get a picture of the flag tunnel.
The barn is also all lit up for the night.
Time for some night rides?
What?!? No line?!? Awesome!
One of the best coasters in North America, hands down.
One more ride to end the night?
The Streak of Mean!!!
Mean Streak has been running great this year, and tonight was no exception. It could very well have been the best ride I’ve had on Mean Streak in years, it was very smooth. Although I was in the front seat, the summer breeze felt great and it was just an all around great ride. Perfect way to end the night. Well that’s it for the Cedar Point updates until Halloweekends I promise. 😛
