I’ve had a Cedar Fair Platinum Pass every year since 2008, I’ve looked at all the parks this pass includes and thought one day I’d like to visit every single one of them. Well since we were in Missouri, Worlds of Fun a Cedar Fair park was a no brainer. After this visit I have only two more Cedar Fair parks to visit before I can say I’ve been to every single one. Worlds of Fun is not a big park but it’s not a small one either, it’s a nice medium size park with a very sizable water park which I’ll cover in another post. Well let’s get to it and check out Worlds of Fun home to Prowler, Patriot, and Mamba!
Where’s the entrance? Oh must be by the flags.
Since our GPS took us to the Oceans of Fun parking lot, and we couldn’t figure out how to get to the other parking lot, we’re entering through the Oceans of Fun gate!
Thanks Worlds of Fun, we’re glad to be here!
Looks like the first coaster in sight is Mamba. Let’s check it out!
Retro 90’s sign at the entrance.
Not too long of a line.
Looks like your traditional Morgan/Arrow lift hill. Also the traditional color of red.
Morgan trains! Also those railings have just a bit of rust on them. 😛
Uh oh, Mamba has sprung a leak.
Almost time to ride!
After that long lift hill climb it’s time for the first drop.
Climbing the second hill.
Mamba making it’s way back after the turnaround helix.
Airtime humps, though unfortunately not as forceful as Magnum’s camel backs.
One last turn into the…
Brake run! That’s it folks.
Mamba was a fun coaster but I was expecting a little more, I had heard it was the best of the three Morgan Cedar Fair hyper coasters but nothing really stood out to me on it. I think the way back to the station could have been so much more, there was not enough airtime for my taste. Not comparable to Magnum in any respect but I guess that’s why Magnum still holds a spot in the top ten on some lists. Check off credit #198, let’s go get #199!
Apparently Silver Dollar City isn’t the only place where you can celebrate America! 😉
On our way to credit #199.
A few people told me Kansas City is flat. Well this doesn’t look flat. 😛
On our way to the next coaster we saw the tail end of a show where a dog was doing high jumps for the crowd.
The dogs name was Thriller and after putting all the extensions on to the fence the jumping height was 40 inches. Can Thriller jump this? Let’s find out!
And he makes it! Good job Thriller!
S&S shot tower called Dominator.
Sadly we didn’t ride it, looks fun though. 🙂
And we’ve arrived for number #199.
I’m sure you can just hear the wolf howling.
As the train passes by, looks like we’re in for a bumpy ride.
The sign evens warns us this could be bumpy.
Doesn’t look too bad.
One train operation?!?!? I thought we weren’t at Six Flags till later in the week. 😛
Well they came back alive….
Is it too late to rethink this?
Oh no we’re clear and outta here….
What the hell is this? It’s even bumpy climbing the lift!
I don’t really keep track of my bottom rankings for roller coasters but in recent memory this has to be the worst. To be fair I did sit in the very last seat because you know YOLO. However it was still very brutal, not an enjoyable ride in the least and it was even bumpy climbing the lift. What the hell?!?!? Absolutely horrible, this ride needs to be retracked or RMC’ed or just burned to the ground. 😛
Looks like a fun Huss TopSpin, but we had coasters to ride!
Well it’s time to go get credit #200!
This is Windseeker right?!? Has the same colors and everything.
Nope wrong! It’s SteelHawk. I get the name change from Windseeker because it had issues at Knott’s Berry Farm. What I don’t get is if they’re gonna change the name, why did they repaint it the same colors as every other Windseeker?!? Remember this one had different colors to start with from the other Windseekers.
“OMG those poor poor fish, they can’t swim, they’re stuck.” says Holly. Umm those are just rocks.
Alright back on track.
This park is sorta themed for a Cedar Fair park. The whole park is certatin sections of the world, hence World’s of Fun. We’re entering the Asian area of the park and the buildings and pond do seem to match the theme. Check out even the sumo statue. Not too shabby.
Hmm this looks familiar.
That’s cause it came from Geauga Lake!!! The sign says so. 😛
Built by M.C. Illions and Sons.
So of course we got a ride on it, just for nostalgic purposes. I will say it takes an absurdly long time to stop.
Hmm this looks like a good candidate for #200.
Prowler! Love me some GCI coasters!
All clear and outta here! Hold on tight because the Prowler is about to bite. Meow. 😛
Climbing the lift!
Prowler navigating those turns.
Twisty! Holly and John in the front seat there.
So my first ride on Prowler was kinda ehh. To be fair however I had a headache at the time (probably from Timber Wolf) and I could feel the wooden track a lot more than I wanted to. However later in the day after taking some Tyenol and feeling better I gave Prowler another shot and boy I’m glad I did. It’s an incredible coaster with insane direction changes and it’s 100 times better at night. More on that later. For now however one of the best wooden coasters I’ve been on and really glad it was a milestone coaster for me. Won’t be forgetting this one anytime soon.
Yay! Milestone #200.
Strolling through the Africa section and there’s a little bit of theming.
What’s that up there?
Standard boomerang here, nothing really exciting.
Rode it got the credit, time to move on.
The train, wonder if we can catch it, these kids are surely trying to keep up.
Oh no we can’t keep up. Hopefully the station is coming up soon.
The same place the dog show was earlier is now a country show.
Train robbers you say?
Well leaving Union Station and the Americana section of the park for destinations unknown!
See Patriot off in the distance, we’ll be needing to get a ride on that soon!
The train provides a few looks at the log flume.
Swinging ship on the pond. These always seem to be over water.
Turn back? Uh oh!
Who are those guys up there?
The train does provide some great views of Prowler’s first drop.
Twisting through the woods.
Uh oh, and we’ve been stopped. Turns out there’s a bridge out up ahead. We haven’t heard this story before. 😛
Someone better go check that out!
Meanwhile, Prowler’s footer nerd shot!
A few jokes, very similar to the same jokes used at Silver Dollar City.
Who wants to play with the beach ball?
Sorry we don’t have any money.
The robber even finds what he claims is his future wife.
Alright enough of these shenanigans the marshal is back.
The marshal threatens to blow them up.
A gunfight ensues.
The outhouse smokes.
And the marshal is gonna finish this up. Enjoy your ride back to Union Station folks!
More of Prowler’s first drop.
Prowler is just a station wait!
Don’t forget your ride photo!
Didn’t know there was dinosaurs in these woods?!?
The train ride was a lot of fun, and the train robbery was a lot longer than Silver Dollar City’s version. Worlds of Fun’s was almost 20 minutes long. Now this is a lot of fun but that means if you don’t catch the train you’re gonna be waiting for awhile for the next one. Can’t deny how awesome it is though for the train robbery to happen right in front of Prowler.
Who’s ready for a show?
Let’s get this started!
We got some bike tricks.
Some airborne action.
Uh oh security needs to get involved, someone ran on stage. 😛
He’s getting away.
Uh what’s going on guys?
I’ll catch him!
Giddy up zebra!
Who’s ready for a finale?
I can’t hear ya!
Whoa who’s up there?
Who’s jumping over me now?
Who want’s more zebra?
Hope you enjoyed the show! Enjoy the rest of your day here at Worlds of Fun!
Kiddie credit time!
Ahh we’re gonna die!
Woohoo! We conquered the Cosmic Coaster.
This is neat you step on the panels and it makes music!
Pretty nice floral in Camp Snoopy.
Ain’t that the truth?
Hey look Windseeker! Oh wait… Steelhawk.
Even the queue line has Patriot color sun shades.
Patriot flies right over you waiting in line.
We’re ready to fly!
Love the color of the track and the trains. Great detail.
And here we go!
Inline twist, the best part of any B&M invert.
Patriot at twilight.
Kick the sky!
A few more twists and turns before the brakes.
And that’s all folks.
Patriot was nothing spectacular but it was a really fun coaster. Not too forceful but just good old fashioned fun, some people hate on the newer B&M inverts for not having enough punch, but I enjoy them a ton. I could re ride Patriot all day long and have a blast!
Next up Spinning Dragons!
On this spinning mouse you sit facing each other.
More Asian theming with the rock serpent around the fountain.
How much can you get your car to spin?
Fun coaster with plenty twists and dives.
They all look like they’re having so much fun.
The track has been chalked apparently.
Standard wild mouse station, nothing special.
Overall fun family coaster with just the right amount of spinning to not make you nauseous. Great fit for a family park like Worlds of Fun.
Nice little creek by the Spinning Dragons.
Finnish Fling? What’s that?
An old fashioned rotor!
Oh no! Where’s the floor? 😛
Nice plaque inside Worlds of Fun.
Different country flags. I like it!
Starting at 8 PM, they had $1 hot dogs. This is the line to get those hot dogs.
Windseeker at sunset, err Steelhawk.
The Grand Carousel at nighttime.
Since we never figured out how to get to the parking lot attached to the main entrance, here’s a look at it at night.
Patriot all lit up for night.
How about a few night rides on Prowler before the fireworks?
I didn’t know it was time for Halloween Haunt?!? 😛
Oooh-ooh-ooh, I really don’t care. 😛
Prowler at night time!
Wow Prowler at night time was incredible! Probably my all time favorite night coaster now, sorry move over Beast. The direction changes, the twisting, you can’t see any of it coming at night. Plus it felt so much smoother and faster at night. You can’t beat that summer breeze in your face. This ride is definitely one of a kind for nighttime. Prowler takes the spot of my number one GCI coaster and in my top five wooden coasters. Can’t say enough about how incredible this ride is at night. Must ride!
Well that’s it for the fireworks. Good but short show. Back to Prowler for some more night rides?
Look how much fun Prowler is at night.
Mamba in the parking lot before leaving. 😦
Well that’s a wrap on our day at Worlds of Fun. Very fun Cedar Fair park, it’s not the biggest or anything but it’s got a decent collection of roller coasters and a really good one in Prowler. I would come back here anytime for those night rides on Prowler. Another fun day on our tour of Missouri theme parks.
